“It’s not all just fighting. There is singing, dancing, eating, drinking, playing, horsemanship, rug-making, quilting and some remarkable historical demonstrations that would make any teacher’s lesson plan a life-long memory.”

One of the largest annual Civil War reenactment and living history event in the United States will be on October 18-19, 2014 at Kearney Park in Fresno, CA. Nearly 2,000 Union, Confederate and Civilian reenactors from the National Civil War Association (www.ncwa.org) will bring to life a time when our country was faced with one of its greatest challenges – the dissolution of the Union.

Each year, the reenactment commemorates the 150th anniversary of the American Civil War. In year's past, the Battle of Spotsylvania, a battle in 1864 that saw two of the greatest generals of the era go head to head for the first time – Union General Ulysses S. Grant and Confederate General Robert E. Lee – in a war that helped redefine a nation as one people dedicated to one principle, that of equality have played out.
