Tennessee

One of the great things about living in the South is Fatz Cafe! We don't have Claim Jumper, like we did back home in California, but we do have Fatz!

After our visit to the Bays Mountain Planetarium, we headed over to the Fatz Cafe right up the road in Kingsport, TN. We had a great dinner at Fatz!

Currently they are offering a "Party of Two"  for only $19. You get to choose from four different appetizers and add two adult meals, for only $19! This is an incredible deal, great for a date night! Currently available all day, every day!

One of the best things about Fatz is the Poppy Seed Rolls. Wow! Tasty little round balls of dough, fried and delicious, served with a golden honey butter! Your server will bring baskets and baskets of these wonderful Poppy Seed Rolls to your table. They are delicious - but very filling and lets face it, horrible for you! But so good! The Poppy Seed Rolls truly live up to the restaurant's name!

We ordered the Southern Spinach and Shrimp Dip with Chips, which is an oven baked dish with fresh spinach, three gooey cheeses and shrimp and topped with tomatoes. Served with three different colors of corn chips, regular, blue and red. A small bowl of salsa and a bowl of queso cheese also arrives. Starving, we managed to annihilate the huge platter very quickly!

For entrees, we chose the 8 oz Top Sirloin steak, which came delicious and juicy, very tender. We chose a signature Fatz dish as the side, the amazing Stone-ground Cheese Grits! Be still my heart! They are delicious, slightly cheesy, buttery warm and wonderful grits. This particular night, they had some slight lumps in them, which were utterly delish! Surprising but true!

We finished our dinner with a mini-desert, the Brownie Bites. They were interesting. Little brownie chunks that were crispy (fried, your at Fatz, remember?) on the outside and gooey on the inside. Served with a scoop of vanilla ice cream and a drizzle of chocolate, they were interesting. Okay - but not really my cup of tea! I am glad we tried them though.

We have always had great service at Fatz! They want you to feel right at home, from the moment you walk in.

LivingHistorySites.com highly recommends trying Fatz Cafe, located all over the South!
